I’m pretty disgusted. No company “guarantees” bonuses. If they did, that’s dumb policy. I’m switching my insurance to Geico.

Actually they do. when companies (or business units) are in the process of getting shut down, it is often necessary to keep some of the “old” employees around (often for quite some time). Mind you, these employees know their jobs are going to be eliminated. To prevent them from taking other jobs, companies often pay a guaranteed bonus to employees to keep them from quitting.

Ah that makes sense in that situation. If you know a company is going under, there’s no real other way to keep employees there until the end really.
