Here’s an Idea: Just Stop Paying Your Mortgage

I was reading some posts on the current state of our financial system, and I came across a comment:

I have an idea, how we can take our country back…

If EVERYONE STOPPED paying their mortgage payments, could they really reposes that many homes!

Wow.  I didn’t even think this was an option unless you just can’t pay the bill.  Then I thought about it…1 in 6 homes are “underwater.”  1 in 6!  If a pretty significant group of people fed up with government helping some but not others and people tired of living within their means, trying to play by the rules, just said, “screw this!”  What would happen?  I did find this request to keep paying.  For now, I think that’s the best idea.  But what if?

Oddities Today: -15.0% 401K and Jar of Coins

  • My 401k lost 15% of it’s value this year.
  • My jar of coins I normally take to deposit in the bank, are not going to the bank this time. I feel safer with it sitting on my desk.
  • My regular portfolio lost…I don’t even want to look.

How are you all doing?  Hopefully not too bad.  What are you doing to stay positive?  I’m going on vacation tomorrow…No more looking at politcal news or stock market tickers for a bit.  Thank goodness.

This Election Has Become the Battle of Good vs. Bad. Guess Who’s Who.

Obama is like Luke Skywalker, Superman, Spiderman, Batman while McCain is like Darth Vader, Lex Luther, Venom, Joker. Why?

1.  “That one” remark has solidified McCain as the mean guy trying to bully Obama.
2. Accusing Obama of being a liar.
3. Supporters of McCain calling Obama a terrorist.
4.  Whether it’s just filtered or not, Obama has been mainly preaching hope and positive messages while McCain is preaching fear and negativity.  Evidenced by Google. Sure, it’s argueable who’s done more, but I think the general consensus is that McCain is more negative than Obama.
5. Obama is turning out to be the calm, predictable candidate while McCain is just all over the place, which is typical of the bad guy…Kind of reminds me of the Joker.
6. And finally, this mortgage buyback plan of McCain’s? It’s clearly UNFAIR to people who are responsible and have lived within their means. McCain’s decision to buy bad mortgages and refinance at the lower value of the home is absurd. How would you feel if you purchased a home, lived within your means, while the neighbor next door who purchased a home way above their means, is suddenly getting “bailed out” by the government, while you’re paying your way through.

It’s pretty obvious McCain’s campaign is all about creating fear and doubt about Obama. I just imagine McCain at his campaign headquarters on the day of the election as he concedes doing the evil laugh and grin. By the way, doesn’t McCain sort of look like Dr. Evil? Obama like Austin Powers? Meh, not so much.

Who is the real John McCain?  Couldn’t find a picture with McCain holding his pinky to his mouth…sorry.
