It is quite bizarre to be honest. You expect earthquakes, not fires.
Going outside and smelling the smoke in the air is surreal. Beyond that, anyone with breathing problems is being killed by it.
Vixen, Wise up kid. CA is full of wildfires. It’s called the Golden State for a reason. All the grasses dry out to a lovely gold color that is ripe for kindling a fire.
One of my high school teachers left to finish her PhD at Berkeley and lost everything in the fires in Oakland 10 yrs ago. A few years later I got to meet her again in CA. She told me she got out with her car and her dissertation on disks. She nearly cried when she told me her cat was lost in the fire. Still breaks my heart.
I knew a girl in college who grew up near Shasta. She was a firefighter during the summers because the pay was good and the lodgings were free.
D–Pretty much! I just don’t know why I’m not motivated to blog. I barely even read things on the internet nowadays. Might have to do with the fact that I don’t sit at the computer at work anymore :/
