In case this happens…if 4 or more people tie for a spot, the pool will be split up…For example, if 1 person is first, and 4 people tied for 2nd, then 1st person will receive full $40, and the 4 folks tied for 2nd will receive $7.50 each ($20 + $10 = $30 / 4 = $7.50).

D and LAMoneyGuy Are Tied For the lead!! With HC and SingleMa right behind.
Don’t forget my October Freedumb Contest is running! Because I don’t have enough time to post something somewhat beneficial to my readers, I thought I’d share…the current comment counts!
NFL Picks: Week 4 Results
Okay, turned out decent, but not great…2 wins, 2 losses, and 1 tie. Actually that’s borderline bad…My record so far with spread, 17 wins, 10 losses, 2 ties. My not-dumb picks? 3 wins, 0 losses, 2 ties. No losses!
Hope you won some office money this past weekend!

My Pick w/ Spread |
Comments |
| WIN | Indianapolis Colts | New York Jets | New York Jets (+9) | Yes, I can imagine this being a bad pick, but the Jets have impressed me so far this season. Colts are a very good team, but the Jets are not bad…If Manning and company are on fire, I expect to be very wrong on this pick. |
| LOSS | New England Patriots | Cincinnati Bengals | Cincinatti Bengals (-6) | Remember when the Bengals were known as the Bungals? I think they will pull of this win easily. The Pats are headed in the wrong direction…How quickly dynasties fall. Bullish on Bengals…Bearish on Pats. |
| LOSS | Jacksonville Jaguars | Washington Redskins | Jacksonville Jaguars (-3) | Washington is going to dissappoint yet again. No QB, big problems. Portis is good, but not that good. Jacksonville will shut them down on the road. |
| TIE | Cleveland Browns | Oakland Raiders | Cleveland (-3) | Not-dumb pick! Cleveland has been playing pretty well…Oakland has not. I expect Cleveland to win, possibly by a touchdown or more. |
| WIN | San Francisco 49ers | Kansas City Chiefs | OVER 40.5 | Not-dumb pick #2! This game is going to be high scoring…I would’ve taken this at 48…I hate over-unders though… |
Market Timing With My 401k…Why I Do It.
I received some great feedback from Enough Wealth telling me that in the long run trying to time the market may get me in trouble. I agree. For the most part I don’t do it, but my 401k is setup such that I can reallocate so easily. It’s hard not to. On top of that, they allot me X transactions a year, free. Since this cost is already included in the maintenance of my 401k, why not use it? Do you try to time the market? Do you think I should still not do it?
Net Worth 09.2006 [+$7,326.06, +3.41%]
What a month…it’s been crazy. I’m glad it’s over, but October is already proving it may be just as hectic. I’m even posting my networth a day late! I’m usually so anxious to calculate all the numbers, I’ve got this post ready to go the day before.
Anyway, it’s been another average but good month. I’ve had some expenses, but nothing outside normal, which was expected. My monthly increases should be decreasing in the upcoming months with various holiday and year end expenses. Sorry, I can’t post more details today, but hopefully in the next few days things will settle down, and I’ll be able to work on my blog more again.
Why October Is Going To Be a Good One
It’s going to be an exciting month! Great things happening for bloggers and readers.
This will be a short post, but I just wanted to remind everyone of all the events going on in the PF Blogging community dealing with “promotion” type deals. I’m again crunched for time this week.
First let me start of with the Boglehead Project being hosted by JLP @ AllThingsFinancial. Today is day 1, so be sure to check it out!
By the way, it’s Boglehead, after John Bogle of Vanguard, and not bobblehead, which are those figures that have big heads that “bobble.” Oddly a bobble head is on the cover.
Next up the Freedumb October Contest! All you need to do is comment to win 40, 20, or 10 bucks!! Check it out. It’s probably one of the easiest contests ever!
My apologizies to Flexo because he also decided to run an October contest, but he’s changing it. I think it would’ve been great to have that one going on as well!
Speaking of multiple contests, there’s one more going on at Adventures in Money Making…win a $50 Amazon.com gift certificate! Check it out as well.
So look out! Put some extra time aside for reading and writing…October 06 is going to be a good one!
Poll Analysis: PFBlogs.org Should Remain Ad-Free…Here’s Why.
I originally thought it’d be great for Flexo to make some cash, since he’s hosting pfblogs.org, but the more I thought about the more I realized I was wrong. Here’s a link to my original poll post. PFBlogs.org should remain ad-free.
Could You Live On Welfare?
Imagine for a second, you’ve lost your job. The economy is in a slump, no one is hiring, or so the media and rumors say. You’re sitting at home contemplating what to do next, and the thought of welfare comes up.
In doing some research on welfare, I found this interesting discussion on it…In it, forbidnfruit_420 says, “i dont and thats because i wasnt a screw up and can provide for my family…and i know who my babys daddy is.” Blunt and harsh, but that really is the stigma that gets attached to collecting welfare isn’t it?
