It’s obvious, my readers have helped to motivate me to blog, so I want to give back.  Yes, I’ve made some money from my blog, but trust me, I haven’t seen a single check yet, so the amount of prize money is very close to how much I’ve made.  But I love feedback even more, so I want to thank you.  And please, tell others to visit and participate!

How do you win?  It’s easy…Comment!  Post comments that are honest, contribute to the conversation, and that’s it!  At the end of October, I’m going to tally up all the comments for the month, and the highest 3 commentors will win.

What do you win?  Amazon.com gift certificates.  All Amazon.com gift certificates in US Dollars. 

1st place:  $40
2nd place:  $20
3rd place.  $10

When?  I will be counting comments from 12:00am, October 1, 2006 until 11:59pm, October 31, 2006.  All times Hawaii Standard Time or GMT -10.

Just make sure to use your email address!  This email will not disclosed, but will be used to track comments, and this same email address will be used to email the Amazon.com gift certificate to you!  So don’t make it up unless you don’t want to win, and watch for typos or your comment might not be counted.  Also, use a consistent alias/name if possible.  Not critical, in case someone copies it, but it would be nice.  No email address?  Doesn’t count…even if you use an alias!!  No email?  Comment doesn’t count.  Typo in your email address?  Your comment might be missed.  Got it?  Good.

I will post comment counts 3 times through the month so that you know where you stand–most likely once in the middle, once a week before, and once a day before the end of the contest.  Comments will be referrenced by the ‘alias’ you use to comment.  So don’t worry, I’m not going to publicize your email…I’d never do that.

You can comment on old or new posts…so browse through my archives or my “category cloud” in the left sidebar!

In the event of a tie, the two or three tying spots will split the prize winnings.

WARNING:  Do not cheat or even attempt to.  I’m the first and final judge as to whether a comment is “beneficial.”  If I choose not to count it, I will delete it.  I’m very serious here.  If there’s any evidence of fraud, your eligibility will be revoked.  I want everyone to have a fair shot.  5 comments to make up the sentence “I like your blog.  Thanks!” does NOT count.  5 comments on 5 different posts saying, “Your dumb” does NOT count.  You get the idea.

Sorry to end on such a negative note, but I know how these things go sometimes, so I will do whatever I can to make sure this contest does not turn sour.
