NFL Picks: Week 4 - Another Tough Week

This week is going to be tough…I’ve got only five picks. Last week was amazing…7 wins, 1 loss, and 1 tie. I don’t think I’ll repeat that all season.  This week features 2 not-dumb picks.  “Not-dumb” picks are equivalent to the “5 star pick” or “gold picks” of other sites.

How Do I Put Goals On My Blog?

I’ve been asked the question a few times, so I thought I’d just make it a post…that way I can refer people to it instead of crafting a new email everytime.  Work smarter!  Not harder.  That’s my mantra…okay, lazy fits well too :).

Take a Trip On Over To Crapville, USA…Compliments Of the Frugal Duchess and Freedumb!

I had the honor of submitting a guest column to the Frugal Duchess’ blog today, and I hope you have sometime to head on over and check it out!  I know most PF Bloggers and readers don’t live a Crapville life, but I’m sure you know some that do.

Thanks Sharon (Frugal Duchess)!

The Ethics Of Advertising…I Almost Turned One Down.

If you look at the top right side bar, you’ll notice a section called “Site Sponsors.”  All of these ads have been approved by myself.

Today, I got a request to approve an ad that says, “100% No Money Down Home Loans.”  I debated approving the ad for about 5 minutes, then ultimately I clicked ‘Approve’.  I know, I know, you think I ’sold out’ right?  Well…

My 401k YTD Rate of Return Is 5.3%. What’s Yours?

If you follow my blog, you’ll know in July my ROR on my 401k was 0.4%.  It sucked.  Well, in August I decided it was time to reallocate my retirement funds completely.  At this time, my 401k had already recovered to a ROR of 1.9%.  I went from:

20% - Money Market
45% - Bonds (Stable Value 20%, Total Bond Market 5%, TIPS 20%)
20% - Total Stock Market Index
10% - Total International Stock Market Index

To:

100% - Aggressive Fund

NFL Picks: Week 3 Results [15-8-1, .705]

Wow!  What a week.  7 wins, 1 loss, and 1 tie.  I’m so happy Atlanta loss, because their win would left me wondering what if for a very long time.  I never expected a week like this…

My current record:  15 wins - 8 losses - 1 tie, .705.

Not Dumb record:  2 wins - 0 losses - 1 tie.

Bill Clinton vs. Fox, Round 1

I just thought this was interesting.  Right wingers claim innocence, and of course left wingers claim this was a setup.  What do you think?  Well, video embedding is not working, so here’s a link to the video.

Watch As a Cricket Outruns Student Debt…or Your Windshield.

Cashcricket.comI don’t have a blog of the week or spotlight posts, but I really do like many of the blogs out there.  I just wish I had more time.  Last week I got an email from Jiminy (not his real name), and he told me about his blog.  It was a great email…I really enjoyed it, so I asked him for a post that I could feature on my blog.  I encourage anyone who wants me to do the same for their blogs to send me an email.  I can’t promise you instant response, but I will try my best.

NFL Picks: Week 3 - Do You Realize If Atlanta Wins Tonight, I Will Have Picked 8 Winners and 1 Tie????!!!!

If I had bet a parlay (multi-team bet), I would be getting at least 100 to 1 on this!!!!!!  Bet $5, win $500!  I am hoping that Atlanta doesn’t cover just so I won’t live wondering what if I had bet $20 bucks on my picks this week…ARRRGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHH!  100 to 1!  Talk about a return.  Sadly, I didn’t.

And the only tie?  My “not-dumb” pick …And Yes, all the exclamation and question marks are necessary…It’s that painful, yet enjoyable for me…DAMN IT DAMN IT DAMN IT.  I should’ve bet a couple grand…haha…I would truly have achieved financial freedumb.

P.S. This week is still crazy.  Expect an extremely light posting schedule.  Hope the weekend treated you well…unlike myself (had to work all day Saturday & Sunday).
