Had I Done My Asset Reallocation, How Would I Be Doing?

23 Aug

About 4 months ago, I was thinking about reallocation my assets, shifting most of my cash into stocks and bonds.

In most cases, when I do something, you should probably do the exact opposite.  Does it hold true this time?  Luckily, thanks for blogging, I recorded my potential reallocation, and I can compare…What if?  What if I had reallocated…where would my portfolio be positioned today?

You Don’t Really Have To Be Financially Set To Retire…

23 Aug

Sort of.  I’m sitting here reading my Dream Book, and on one page it describes the “Top 10 retirement businesses.”

“Hmmm, interesting,” I think to myself. “Wait a minute! That means that I don’t have to really have as much as I thought I may need to retire!!”  That’s a revelation, and a very definite possibility.  AWESOME!  I’ve never really thought about it, but if your retirement funds are supplemented by a “retirement business,” then you really don’t have to wait until your 65 to “retire.”  It could come much earlier.

What were the top 10 retirement businesses listed in the Dream Book?

Just a Quick Reminder…

22 Aug

If you don’t mind, please vote on my latest poll, “On the First Date, Who Pays?

Also, ask me and Brownie anything!  If I get 5000 questions, I will answer 5000 questions.  Put me to work for you…got a question about your 401k?  Ask away.  How about deciding between what kind of oil to use in your car?  Try me.  How about the mathematical origins of e or p?  Uh okay, but be warned, I never said I’d be correct! Thank you Internet and Google :) !

Netflix vs. Blockbuster Online

22 Aug

I’ve subscribed to both.  They both have their pros and cons, but in the end there’s one that I think is slightly better.  Both are not too shabby.  If your considering subscribing, make sure you get at least a couple week free.

Netflix Plans:

  • 3 DVDs – $17.99/month
  • 2 DVDs – $14.99/month

Blockbuster Plans:

  • 3 DVDs – $17.99/month
  • 2 DVDs – $14.99/month

You can see both are the same prices for two of, what I think, are their more popular plans.  You can have 2 or 3 dvds at any given moment.  There are other plans as well.

Ask Freedumb & Brownie Anything! Seriously…ANYTHING. Even Anonymously.

21 Aug

I always ask questions…I think PF Bloggers ask lots of questions in fact (not in a bad way, questions are good, check out the Question Marathon), so here’s your chance to turn the tables on myself and Brownie.  Ask us anything.  And when I say anything, I mean anything.  Rude, insulting, honest, whatever your heart desires.  It doesn’t even have to be finance related.  I even ask you to do it anonymously, unless you don’t mind having your name attached with the question.  Of course, try to keep it clean please…There are kids that may be reading this.  Okay, maybe not, but still!

I have to admit, I haven’t been keeping up with the marathon, so I figured to make up for my slack I’ll just post up and remind other people to answer the questions because I’m just too damn lazy.

Updated Doggie Costs – Dog Food and, uhh, More Dog Food

19 Aug

I haven’t updated Brownie’s costs for awhile…doesn’t mean I’ve been neglecting him.  I have bought 3 bags of food recently along with a few dog toys from Vegas.  Plus his boarding costs for the trip.

Boarding:  $180.00
Food:  $51.00 (3 bags of 40lb food, Kirkland Signature Lamb & Rice)
Toys:  $12.00
Immodium AD:  $13.00 (18 pill package)
Total to date:  $4,301.79 + 180 + 51 + 12 + 13 = $4,557.79

Main post has been updated.

What If, Just For a Day, You Were Someone Else?

19 Aug

What if I were conceived just a few minutes, or even seconds later?  Would I have a totally different existence?  Would we be the same person in a different body?  Would I suddenly be a member of a different family?  Would I be living in a completely different place?  Maybe I’d be a millionaire?  Maybe I’d be poor?  Maybe I’d be exactly the same person in a different body, different place?  Maybe I’d be exactly the same person just born a few minutes later?
