The Financial Side of My Las Vegas Vacation

14 Aug

I’ve been gone for the past few days…being a very, very irresponsible individual, financially speaking.  My friend is getting married, so we had his bachelor party in Las Vegas.  My goal was to come back home with the same or more in my pocket than I left.  It didn’t work.  Well, it did for the first 4 days, then the 5th day was the death of my goal.  Out of my 5 or so trips to Vegas, twice, I’ve came back with more money in my pocket than I started off with.

Cash statement – Includes entertainment, additional food, gaming, and gifts.

Started with:  $2,300.00 (Money in my pocket)
Came back with:  $623.00
Total LOSS:  $1,677.00

Other additional costs – Charged to my credit card

Dog Boarding: $180.00
Air, room, and 4-night hotel, and 3 meals per day:  $580.00
Car: $460.00
Gas:  $50.00
Total Trip Costs:  $2,947.00

Yes, I have been a financially irresponsible individual these past 5 days…But it was a vacation.  I had lots of fun!  I hope my friend will be able to enjoy the rest of his days as a newly married man.

So that’s where I’ve been…it’s back to regularly scheduled programming until the end of this month, when I travel for the actual wedding.

Holy crap, you were in Las Vegas this weekend? I was in Vegas this weekend too! I attended a wedding on Saturday at Paris. That’s crazy. Where did you stay? Maybe we passed right by each other and didn’t even know. Ooooo… scary.

Oh, and also. Jeez, Louise that’s a lot of money. Oh well, it doesn’t sound like you’re beating yourself up over it, so I’m sure it’s within the realm of what you budgeted. Hope you had a good time.

LMG, How weird would that be. But, I don’t think we did…I didn’t go into the strip except for a few short trips to the mall and Palms. Spent my time in downtown mostly.

Yeah, I am okay with the money I lost…I brought the money up with me with the expectation I would not come back with any of it. I’m glad I came back with some.

In my opinion this is a “have to”, both for you and your friend. Making this kind of commitment in your life is huge and he needs to know his friends are there for the ride. It’s only money! Fun last’s forever!

Downtown? Dude, you’re so Hawaiian. Where, the Cal? You have the Island Brunch Buffet at the Market Street Cafe?

I’m going to Vegas again in a couple of weeks and staying there. Good fun.

No, I stayed at Harrah’s, hung out at Paris and Caesars. Table limits on the strip are too high. I like the $5 tables at the Cal and Main Street. And the High Roller Gold at Triple 7.
