When I was told my site was completely messed up this past Saturday, I panicked. “Oh no! My site is messed up!” I rushed to find out what was wrong. Lo and Behold, I confirmed my page didn’t display properly on Safari. (Nifty tool) First thoughts that ran through my mind, “All that work, and maybe I have to revert back to scratch.” Luckily, I found out that one of the files on my blog was messed up by me. I’m not sure where, but I just replaced it, and just like magic, everything displayed properly. Tuned it up a bit, being more careful, and everything is back to normal.
This led me to the question, “Why can’t I treat everything in my life like this site?” For example, WORK.
I’ll admit, work bores me. If you didn’t know that by now, read this. So how do I still keep doing my job? Well 2 things: Fear of failure and my customers.
Fear of failure drives me to finish my work. If I don’t finish, I look bad, my manager looks bad, and it just bothers me. But if my work didn’t matter, than I just put it off, aka slack. Fortunately, I have customers, the 2nd motivator. I talk to my customers and have a relationship. It pains me when I let them down. I guess maybe that’s why I can excel in customer support.
Outside of work, if I’m “into it,” then I can spend hours on it, ex. this blog, my car, and fishing. But give me some dull project, and it can sit on the shelf for months. I need to find more motivating factors. Take a look at what motivates SingleMa…Now that’s a good list of motivators. I must admit, when I got my dog, it changed my life dramatically. Suddenly, I had someone that depended on me…My dog motivates me–to set a schedule, exercise, and get things done on time. Didn’t expect that benefit from my furry friend.
So what motivates you?

Those furry ones do have a way of making your life more structured.
