My Very Best Money Saving Tip

26 Jul

Okay, I don’t know if it’s really my “very best” money saving tip, but that’s the topic…Credit NCN for getting this “link-a-thon” started!

My tip:  WAIT.

If it’s a big ticket item (my definition of big ticket would be over $100), then I would put it down on my wishlist (a text document).  I would then do research on it.  Then I’d wait.

If after X amount (6 months for me) of time you still want it, then buy it!  If you’ve wanted something for that long, I can almost guarantee you won’t suffer buyer’s remorse.  In fact, at least for me anyway, I feel really excited when I get something that I’ve wanted for so long. And if you don’t buy it?  Well, congratulations, you just saved yourself X amount of money!  Good luck saving!

My tip really sounds familiar to Pragmatic Finance’s…maybe it really is a good one.  It’s also similar to Dollop of Sour Cream’s

I had a digital camcorder on my wishlist for about 2-months before I decided to buy it. It, and some accessories, lightened my wallet by about $1,000.

    Great tip.
